Is DISC Basic Accurate?

DISC Validation and Research

In 1928, DISC was theorized in the book titled Emotions of Normal People. The author of the book, William Moulton Marston, recognized that people could be categorized based on how they viewed themselves in relation to their environment. Marston’s theory found that every person had a primary ‘color’ of their personality that could tied back to one of four types: Dominance, Inducement, Submission, and Compliance.

Today, DISC is used by millions of people every year. It is one of the most popular tools for teaching self-awareness and is used in executive, management, and team development.

DISC Basic is the only DISC-based assessment to be researched and validated by a third-party organization to ensure reliability and validity. No other DISC Assessment offers this level of transparency.
